Live Session:  Lesson Planning for Writing

Description:  Research shows that teaching adult education students writing strategies is the most effective writing technique. Join Cindy Heimbach, Instructional Development Specialist for Mississippi Adult Education, and the Reading and Writing group for a demonstration of effective lesson planning techniques for writing strategy instruction.

Live Session:  Trauma Informed Instruction in the Science Classroom

Description:  Join us for a coffee break to better understand how the pandemic could potentially traumatize students who suddenly find themselves deprived of social interactions with classmates/friends and a safe place to go besides the confines of their own homes. We will discuss how trauma could hinder student ability to learn in the science classroom and reflect on the best approaches and strategies educators can adapt to support students during this crisis.

Live Session:  Integrated Education & Training Behind and Beyond our Prison Walls

Description:  In celebration of Career & Technical Education Month, the LINCS Professional Development and Correctional & Reentry Education groups will come together to explore Integrated Education & Training (IET) Programs behind and beyond the prison walls. Best practices will be shared and discussed for the use of IET programs for justice involved individuals. This interactive event will highlight the importance of career and technical training in the correctional and reentry setting and how educators can work to develop and implement this instructional model.
