Live Session:  Teaching Vocabulary with Technology

Description: Adult students need a strong vocabulary foundation in order to develop their literacy and use their English effectively in their many roles: employees, parents, and community members. In this session, educators will learn a research–proven six-step process infused with technology to help students not only better learn and retain vocabulary but also move new terminology into their productive vocabulary knowledge. Select resources appropriate for each step of direct vocabulary instruction will be provided.

Live Session:  Summer School - Reengaging Young Adults Behind & Beyond Our Prison Walls

Description: Summer may be here, but school inside and outside of our correctional facilities will not be taking a break. Join Susan Lockwood-Roberts as we explore educating our young adults behind and beyond our prison walls. As more and more young adults enter the justice system we need to find new and creative ways to engage and teach our young learners who often need basic literacy support to find the career pathway of their choosing. This discussion will explore best practices and the challenges facing young adult learners in the correctional setting and upon reentry back to the community.
