Newly Released Recordings from LINCS Universal TA Wednesday Webinar Series

American Institutes for Research (AIR), under contract with The Office of Career Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE), are pleased to announce that the recordings of the first two webinars in the LINCS Universal TA Wednesday Webinar Series are now available on the LINCS YouTube channel. The purpose of this webinar series is to support State capacity building and provide a collection of high-quality evidence-based online resources around topics that are of interest to the field of adult education. First Webinar: Increasing Equity in Adult Education: https://youtu.be/smugH3JAry8

In the first webinar, Daquanna Harrison, MA-Psy, CNPM, owner of Elevation Educational Consulting Group, discussed increasing equity in adult education. With the executive orders related to advancing racial equity and support for underserved communities, she asked participants to consider how State systems could provide more equity in adult education, how State and local staff could support equity in adult education, and what State’s would need in order to be able to bring more equity to adult education.

In the second webinar, Jen Vanek, from the EdTech Center@World Education and facilitator of the IDEAL Consortium; Brad Hasskamp, Minnesota State ABE Director; and Susan Wetenkamp-Brandt, Senior Manager at Literacy Minnesota, shared ideas for planning and policy work that can support continual implementation of effective distance education. The pandemic and the related quick shift to remote instruction and a subsequent increase in the use of distance education led State leaders to reconsider policy and practice.

Next Webinar: Student Recruitment and Outreach – September 29, 2021 (3:00-4:15PM ET)

 The next LINCS Universal TA Wednesday Webinar will be on September 29, 2021 from 3 to 4:15 PM ET/ 12 to 1:15 PM PT on the topic of Student Recruitment and Outreach. Participants will be provided insight into at what the research suggests about student recruitment and outreach during the pandemic. Participants will also hear from a panel that will discuss strategies for student recruitment that they have used successfully at the state and local level.
