OCTAE Program Memorandum 20-3: AEFLA and COVID-19 – Frequently Asked Questions

Hope this message finds you safe and well.  As a follow up to the Town Hall held on March 18, 2020 to discuss questions and concerns related to COVID-19 and Adult Education and Family Literacy Act program operations, OCTAE has released the first set of Frequently Asked Questions, which we hope provides some guidance and assistance to States and local programs with continuity of operations in a COVID-19 environment.  OCTAE is working to respond to additional questions received since the Town Hall and we encourage you to continue to send questions to the AskAEFLA@ed.gov mailbox.  We will try to respond as quickly as possible.

Additionally, OCTAE has received questions related to sharing of resources to assist programs in the transition from in-person to distance teaching.  Please visit our LINCS resource page to learn about COVID-19 support for adult educators aimed at assisting State and local programs in meeting the needs of their adult education learners.  For the latest information on the U.S. Department of Education’s response, please also visit the U.S. Department of Education’s COVID-19 Information and Resources for Schools and School Personnel, which the Department will continue to update.

Thank you for everything you do on behalf of our students.

Sincerely,

Cheryl L. Keenan
