DRAW PD Opportunity: Weaving Digital Learning Into Adult Education Classrooms

Dear Colleagues,

Technology is integral to nearly every aspect of our daily lives, including the way we learn and work. Therefore, everyone must develop digital resilience—the awareness, skills, agility, and confidence necessary to be empowered users of new technologies, actively participate in society, and adapt to the labor market’s ever-changing demands for digital expertise.

OCTAE is excited to announce three professional development (PD) cohorts in 2023/2024 for the DRAW project. DRAW (Digital Resilience in the American Workforce) is NOW accepting applications for these upcoming cohorts, and you can access the application here.

The DRAW project’s pilot program recently wrapped up, and we wanted to share some of what the pilot participants (like Amanda and Midora) had to say about their experiences. Using DRAW’s resources/materials with support of instructional coaches, participants found:

  • [I have] greater awareness of how to incorporate digital resources into my lessons.
  • The DRAW training has helped me support my learners’ capacity to adapt.
  • [DRAW] has greatly impacted my approach to teaching - the biggest impact being that I'm more mindful of exactly what I'm teaching and how I can add those digital skills to my everyday lessons.
  • I gained language to explain to my colleagues how to integrate digital skills into our instruction and feel confident that I can lead them in the process.

If you have any questions about the DRAW project and/or the upcoming DRAW cohorts, including the time commitment, schedule, or expectations, please reach out to digitalskills@jff.org. The DRAW team wants to make the program work for you and your instructors.

  • Cohort 1: September 26, 2023 - January 19, 2024
  • Cohort 2: January 23, 2024 - April 26, 2024
  • Cohort 3: February 27, 2024 - May 31, 2024

OCTAE invites you to watch this recorded webinar which will provide more details on the DRAW project, as well as an overview of the upcoming cohort opportunities.

Best,

Team OCTAE                                                                                                                                                               Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education | U.S. Department of Education
